St. Lucia 2009

In June 2009 Dr. Dave and his son Brydan spent two weeks with a team of 14 health care professionals and other volunteers in St. Lucia to assist the local population with their medical needs. Dr. Dave and Brydan headed up the volunteer dental program with a primary focus on oral surgery for relief of pain, as well as spending some time doing restorative dentistry and sharing Dr. Dave’s knowledge of the latest techniques with the local dentists.

It is always a real learning experience to go to the third world. It sharpens your ability to adapt to new and inventive ways of treatment in a world of limited resources. It always teaches me how fortunate we all are to practice in a setting with everything at our fingertips.

The St. Lucia trip was a great learning experience for Brydan and gave him the opportunity to see the hard realities of working and living in the third world.
