Horn of Africa
It's all about fulfilling dreams
We feel passionate about our project and have a dream. For a number of years we have been sending all of our implant patients to have CT scans done in Kelowna and we have known about the need for a dental CT in our area for a long time. So, in 2009 I committed to building a new office so we could bring this and other new technologies to Vernon.
We have also committed that all the funds we generate from the CT scans taken in our office will be donated to THE PARTNERS IN THE HORN OF AFRICA.
We are hoping that this new technology will not only enrich the lives of the patients in the Vernon area but also those of the greater world community.
In 2007 I read an article in the paper about the HORN OF AFRICA PROJECT, and decided to sign up and make a donation and participate in the team relay to support the project. By the end of the relay I was so impressed by the group and their passion for their cause I knew I needed to become involved.
In 2009 I am donating all the proceeds from our CT scan to increase our support of the Horn of Africa project. We look forward to what the future will bring. We thank our many patients and colleagues in the North Okanagan that have been utilizing both our CT SCAN and/or our implant services.
I realized a number of years ago that I wanted to do more volunteering and have been on many medical and dental missions. Seeing the third world first hand has made me realize the gravity of the need to relieve dental pain. Treating a few hundred people is simply no longer enough. Although we do a lot of volunteer work for local patients through the street nurse program that is not enough either.
I have chosen to treat my passion for cosmetic and implant dentistry as means to support these causes. I will do more of what I enjoy and donate these funds to support a cause that I believe in. Hence, this involvement in the GREAT BIG RUN and I have added the GREAT BIG BIKE because of my passion for cycling.
I have always believed that if you "Follow your dreams and passions you will have a rich and rewarding life”. From my experience that has been very true.
Following my dreams and hoping to inspire you to follow yours.
Sincerely
Dr. Dave Regehr DMD
If you are looking for a great cause and want to really make your dollar go further in the third world I believe that this is a worthwhile cause. I have done my research on this organization and have been extremely impressed with how well they target the true needs of the Ethiopian women and how efficiently they get all of the money to the people who need it most instead of some paid NGO worker driving a Landrover. So again if you are one of my patients or a colleague in the Vernon area, take up the challenge and I will match your donation. Together we can truly make some smiles happen both at home and in the third world.
